District shows Berkman elementary and middle‑school addition progress; certificates sold to fund projects

District leaders told the Brandon Valley School District board Monday that work on Berkman Valley Elementary and the middle‑school addition is progressing and that the district has published a project hub with plans and photos.

Superintendent Larson updated the board that construction on Berkman Valley Elementary and the middle‑school addition continues, with earthwork and foundations under way at the middle school and curbs and classroom walls emerging at the elementary site. He said there are about six to eight weeks of work left before students return in August.

Chuck Henson, director of academic technology, demonstrated the district’s building‑projects hub on the district website. Henson said the district maintains the pages in‑house and that the site includes architectural plans, explanations from Larson, regular drone photos updated every few weeks and a link to each project’s timeline.

Mr. Lundberg told the board the bond certificates for the middle‑school addition were sold and closed on June 4 for $7,135,000 and that the district realized a premium of $455,000 on the issue. He also noted project expenses to date and that the transportation parking lot is included in the middle‑school project work.

Construction photos Henson showed included the transportation building, site prep and what the district identified as the community room/commons. Henson said the team attempts drone flyovers every couple of weeks and posts the images to the project pages so the community can track progress.

Board members asked no follow‑up questions during the presentation.

The district directed residents to the building‑projects pages for updates and timelines; no formal board action was required on the presentation.
