The Tuscaloosa Finance Committee on Wednesday approved General Fund budget revision No. 13 to record $44,065 in insurance proceeds and move the same amount to the Police Department’s equipment line for a replacement vehicle.
Carly Standridge (city staff) described the request as insurance proceeds to fund a new Tuscaloosa Police Department vehicle following an item the council approved previously related to a vehicle incident. "This request is to make a budget amendment to the general fund in the amount of $44,065, into insurance proceeds and then to set the same budget amount to the equipment line for Tuscaloosa Police Department for them to purchase a new police vehicle," Standridge said.
Committee members asked about the insurance deductible. Carla (city insurance staff) said the deductible depends on equipment type and for a TPD cruiser patrol car it is about $2,500. Chair Busby called for the motion and the committee approved the budget revision by voice vote: "All in favor, say aye. Aye. Budget revision is approved," the chair said.
The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript. Staff said all necessary approvals and clearances to receive the insurance proceeds and purchase the vehicle had been completed; the item moves forward with the appropriation recorded in the capital projects budget.
No other conditions or amendments were recorded in the committee discussion.
