Beavercreek — City officials thanked members of the Joshi family on Monday after the family’s $25,000 donation to the city’s Fourth of July celebration.
Erin (staff) introduced family representatives "Randy, Andreas and Darian" to the council. A city official said that the Joshi family has supported the Fourth of July event for more than 10 years and that the $25,000 gift "really allows us to have fireworks every year." The council said the city will plant a tree in Rotary Park this fall with a plaque bearing the family name to recognize the donation.
A Joshi family representative said the donation honors a long family tradition and that his father-in-law had considered Beavercreek home for more than 50 years. "This is an honor to give the city of Beavercreek money to celebrate for July," the speaker said, and asked the council to "please receive kindly" the check.
Mayor Adams and council members thanked the family for their continued support. The city said it will invite the family to participate in the tree-planting ceremony, and that the tree will be placed at Rotary Park near the fireworks viewing area.
No formal ordinance or budget amendment was recorded in the meeting transcript; the item was presented as a special recognition and donation acceptance.
