The Ohio County Fiscal Court voted to add Ordinance 2025-5, a social media policy for county employees, to the county administrative code Tuesday after a roll-call vote.
The ordinance was introduced by Court member Jason, who moved that the court "accept the reading of ordinance 2025-5 social media policy for Ohio County to add to the administrative code." The motion was seconded by Court member Bo and was approved on a roll call in which Bullock, Bennett, Johnston, Bivens, McKinney and other members voted in favor.
The policy applies to county employees and is intended to centralize management of county social pages and accounts. Jason said the policy would allow the county administrator to be an administrator of official Facebook pages and websites so accounts remain accessible if an employee leaves. "So we never lose our website pages or we can take something off and on," Jason said.
Court members discussed that magistrates or the judge could make administrative code changes during the year, but final changes in June require court action. No formal amendments to the reading were recorded during the meeting.
The court recorded the vote and added the ordinance to the administrative code. The ordinance was identified in the meeting as "Ordinance 2025-5."
