The Keene City Council unanimously approved a resolution on June 10 reauthorizing the city’s water conservation and drought contingency plan, a document staff said is required for participation in some Texas Water Development Board programs.
City engineer representatives updated the plan to reflect current figures; staff said the document otherwise remains “almost the exact same plan” adopted previously. The council must readopt the plan every five years under the city’s existing ordinance in order to remain eligible for some state grant programs, staff said.
Councilmember Foster moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. The plan update was listed on the consent agenda and pulled for brief discussion by Foster because it was distributed that afternoon. The councilor said she wanted time to read it but ultimately supported adoption after staff explanation.
