A finance committee voted not to approve a moral claim for $750 from resident Jacob Streeter for sewer repairs and will forward the matter to the full Seven Hills City Council for final decision.
Streeter told the committee that in August crews responded to a clogged sewer line at his residence, 650 East Meadowland, but that the city’s jet truck was unavailable. He said city personnel advised him to call a private plumber and to file a claim for reimbursement afterward, and he said he is requesting reimbursement.
A letter read into the record from the director of finance reported that the city’s service director reviewed the matter with sewer camera footage and determined the obstruction was on the homeowner’s side of the property. The finance committee then voted against paying the claim. The roll call recorded Councilman Morrow, no; Councilman Martin, no; Curiosus, no. Committee members said the committee’s decision will be sent to the end of the regular city council meeting for the council to vote on the claim.
No committee member moved to approve payment; the committee did not award reimbursement at the committee level.
