Dr. Katrina McCallum presented the Caldwell County Schools mental health plan and asked the board for approval of the template required by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
"Our item this morning is the Caldwell County Schools mental health plan. This is a requirement that is presented and approved by our local Board of Education. We've actually had a plan in place for about 3 years," Dr. McCallum said, adding the template formalizes training and incident-handling steps and aligns with NCDPI guidance.
A board member moved, and the motion to approve the mental health plan passed without recorded opposition. The board did not amend the plan during the meeting; no specific new funding or timelines were attached in the presentation.
