The Valley Central School District Board of Education approved a resolution authorizing building and facility improvements with a total estimated maximum cost not to exceed $11,100,000 and authorized issuance of serial bonds in the principal amount of $6,140,000.
The board adopted the resolution after a motion and a roll‑call vote. District officials said plans will be developed and submitted to the New York State Education Department for review; if approved by the state the project will be brought back to the community for a vote.
Board President Bond called for the motion and the district clerk conducted a roll call. The vote was recorded as yes from Angela Tara Labora, Jane Samuelson, Diana Laforme, Frances Fox Posonia, Amy McKnight, Sarah Melvin and Joseph Brown. The motion passed 7–0.
Superintendent Avila said the Walden Elementary replacement project — previously directed by the board — will continue through the state review process and that detailed updates are unlikely for 10–12 months while design, review and state approvals proceed. No additional financing details, interest rates or repayment schedules were presented at the meeting.
