Panther Foundation donates nearly $50,000 in grants to Spring Lake Park Schools

Panther Foundation leaders presented a donation and an update to the Spring Lake Park School Board, reporting $49,950 in grants and special projects awarded this year and noting an additional $43,000 raised in February that the foundation will retain for future student support.
Tanya Hartwell, identified in the meeting as Panther Foundation chairperson, told the board, “This year, I'm excited to report that we funded $49,950 in grants and special projects.” Hartwell said the foundation’s grants support back‑to‑school supplies, book giveaways at community events, athletics and activities and other programs across grade levels.
The superintendent thanked the foundation for filling “the gaps” in student and classroom needs — for example, busing to events and instrument shipping for the band’s travel — and highlighted the foundation’s longstanding support: Hartwell said the foundation has given more than $2 million to district initiatives over the years. Hartwell also noted the $43,000 raised at a February “Party in February” event will remain with the Panther Foundation rather than be transferred into district operating funds.
The board later adopted a resolution accepting gifts to the district under board policy and a Minnesota statute cited during the meeting; the resolution passed on a 7–0 roll call vote. Board members publicly thanked Panther Foundation volunteers and donors.
