Board accepts resignation, approves two new teachers for next year

The Newfields School Board accepted the resignation of Sarah Rosenbleeds and approved two new teacher nominations for the coming school year: Kristen Ferrier and Katie Martin.

During staff updates, the board moved and voted to accept Sarah Rosenbleeds' resignation. The board then reviewed two candidate nominations presented by school administrators; the hiring committee's report and the principal's remarks described both candidates as experienced educators with master's degrees and strong references.

Principal Susie spoke to the hires, saying Kristen Ferrier holds a master's degree in education and was praised by references and her former principal for building deep relationships with students and for classroom management and curriculum knowledge. Susie said the hiring committee of nine members was impressed with Ferrier's curriculum, technology and classroom-management skills and that she was described as "anything but ordinary" by a reference.

Susie also introduced Katie Martin, who also holds a master's degree and was described as having strong math-instruction skills, experience integrating technology into the classroom, and active involvement in extracurricular activities in her previous district. References characterized Martin as having a strong work ethic and collaborative approach.

Administrators said they would coordinate short Zoom meet-and-greet sessions for families and students with the new hires in mid-June so families can meet teachers before the summer.

The board formally moved to accept the two nominations and voted in favor; recorded votes were "aye" by members present. The board thanked outgoing staff and welcomed the new hires.
