Board approves renewals for GoGuardian, Infinite Campus and Edgenuity; district to declare older computers surplus

The Glynn County Board of Education on June 10 approved several technology renewals and a surplus declaration for older devices as part of the meeting’s consent agenda.
Mister Benson, a staff member, asked the board to approve renewal contracts and surplus declarations tied to a computer refresh. The board approved the GoGuardian renewal (used for device management and internet filtering), the Infinite Campus student information system renewal, an Edgenuity online-learning renewal, and a motion to declare selected desktop and laptop devices surplus as replacements are installed.
Benson said GoGuardian’s renewal quote for the coming year was $78,780, up modestly from last year’s roughly $71,000–$72,000 figure. He described increased classroom use and teacher monitoring features, and noted the district uses Promethean panels to display teacher desktops during small-group instruction.
For Infinite Campus, Benson reported a renewal cost of $145,353.50, an increase of $420 from 2024–25. He described planned pilot uses including electronic hall passes and an online payment option for elementary after-school care.
Edgenuity, used for credit recovery and as a teacher-of-record in some alternative settings, showed a slight increase in the proposed renewal (roughly a $10,000 increase from the previous quote). Benson said the district will continue to monitor rigor and alignment to milestone assessments as the district pursues higher student achievement.
Benson also requested that various desktop and laptop units purchased in February 2019, 2020 and 2021 be declared surplus as part of the computer refresh that will affect Brunswick High School, Glen Academy, GECA and the district office. He said some older devices can no longer be updated to support current software and will be recycled, used for parts, or sold in lots.
All of these items were included in the consent agenda and were approved unanimously.
