The North Miami City Council voted 5–0 to transmit to the state a comprehensive-plan amendment and to approve related land-development regulation (LDR) text changes to establish a Northwest Seventh Avenue Cultural Arts & Innovation Overlay District. Staff said the overlay is intended to rebrand the former Chinatown area and to encourage recreation, entertainment, arts and innovation uses along the corridor.
Development-Services Director Debbie Love told the council the proposal does not change the existing height or density established by the existing Planned Corridor Development overlay: the east side of Northwest Seventh Avenue already allows up to 200 feet; the west side is capped at lower heights.
