Columbia County approves ACCG property and liability renewal for next fiscal year

Columbia County’s committee advanced the county’s annual property and liability insurance renewal with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) for the July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026 policy year.
An internal services presenter, Miss Reese, told the committee the county is maintaining the same coverage limits but that the net contribution rose to $1,014,533. She said the increase breaks down to a 5% ACCG rate increase and an 18.38% increase attributable to the county’s larger exposures, such as additional buildings, vehicles and payroll. “We also met all the requirements to receive the safety discount credit of $45,448,” Reese said.
Reese said the renewal contribution worksheet requires the chairman’s signature by July 1. The presenter recommended approval and the item was moved to the consent agenda for final action.
A commissioner noted that Commissioner Carraway serves on ACCG’s board; Reese and the chair acknowledged that relationship during discussion. The committee did not amend coverage limits at the meeting.
