Homewood — The Homewood City Council on June 9 unanimously approved an amendment to the zoning ordinance that permits food-and-beverage drive-thru service in the Wildwood Center portion of the PMUD (Planned Mixed Use District).
Cale Smith, presenting the change, said simply, “This is a revision to the zoning ordinance to allow drive thrus at Wildwood.” The council adopted the ordinance by unanimous vote; the meeting record identifies the ordinance as number 2941.
The adopted text amends Article 4 (district uses) of Appendix A (zoning) by adding language to Section Z (PMUD plan mixed-use district) and revising Section GG (permitted uses for nonresidential districts) to permit food-and-beverage drive-thru uses only at Wildwood Center and with the restrictions noted in the ordinance language. The ordinance states it becomes effective upon adoption and mayoral approval as provided by law.
The council opened a public hearing for the proposed change and recorded no public comments; Planning and Development referred the matter to council with a committee recommendation to set the hearing. City staff read the ordinance language into the record before the roll-call vote.
The change applies only to the Wildwood Center area identified in the ordinance language; no other PMUD areas were changed by the action recorded on June 9.
