Arvada staff update council on West 60 Fourth Avenue subarea plan; residents press to protect retail, improve crossings

City planning staff presented a progress update to the City Council on the West 60 Fourth Avenue subarea planning effort, outlining a outreach-driven process and draft guiding principles while residents and council members urged protections for existing retail and fixes for pedestrian safety.

“Subarea planning helps create long term vision for development and redevelopment in this particular area,” said Patty, a planning staff member, describing the project’s purpose and method. Staff said the plan focuses on two study areas along West 60 Fourth Avenue between Sims Street and Yank Way, and that the work was initiated last year with an expected draft late this year and additional hearings next winter.
