The West Des Moines City Council on June 2 approved two city-initiated site plans for parking lots and dumpster enclosures that had been continued from the May 19 meeting.

Council members said engineering and city manager staff addressed remaining questions and concerns raised at the earlier meeting. After confirming those issues were resolved, the council took up the resolutions and recorded unanimous 5-0 votes to approve the projects.

The two approvals cover: (1) a Sixth Street parking lot with dumpster enclosure; and (2) a city parking lot and dumpster enclosure at the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Walnut Street. Staff indicated both items were city projects and that the site plans conform to engineering and zoning requirements.

With approval, staff may proceed with the site-plan implementation steps and permit issuance under the city’s standard development-review procedures.
