Resident presses Warrenton for update on recovery-home policy

During public comment at the May 20 meeting, Jane Kelly of Warrenton and Warren County Fragile Homeless asked city officials for an update on the city’s review of recovery-home policy and whether state guidance had been sought.
Kelly asked, "Has there been a review? Has there been any communication with the state? Has there been a meeting? Is there anything you can report back?" She said she had provided documents and expected the city attorney to follow up. City leadership replied that there was no answer at that time and that the attorneys had not yet discussed the matter with staff. Mayor and staff said they would follow up with City Administrator Brandy Walters and the city attorney and invited Kelly to return at a future meeting.
Kelly urged clarity on whether recovery homes would be required to "obey the federal and state laws that govern the recovery home" and asked whether the city would enforce those standards. The mayor and staff did not provide a substantive policy decision at the meeting but said staff would pursue follow-up with the attorney and return to the board with any guidance.
