Aldermen approve conditional-use permit and site plan for Gearhead Garage at Veterans Memorial Parkway

The Warrenton Board of Aldermen voted May 20 to approve a conditional use permit and accompanying site plan for a vehicle service and repair shop called Gearhead Garage at 719 Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Director of Planning and Development Tim Burks presented the application from applicant Lone Lockhart, noting the property is zoned C-3 Highway Commercial. Burks summarized the Planning and Zoning Commission’s conditions: no overnight parking in the three front parking spaces, no outdoor storage or derelict vehicles/parts/tires, and the addition of nine parking spaces. "Per my report, all site items have been met and are consistent with our current code," Burks said. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the application with conditions; the board moved to read Bill Nos. 24-25 and 25-25 and later approved the ordinance and site-plan ordinance on roll-call votes (5-0, one absent).

Burks told the board the proposed building would be approximately 2,250 square feet in a building formerly occupied by Auto Loop Plus, and the engineer revised the plan to add parking spaces to meet code. The conditional use and site-plan ordinances were adopted by the board, clearing the way for the applicant to complete permitting and proceed under the conditions listed by the planning commission.
