The Gardner Conservation Commission heard an update on restoration work at 36 Nicole Terrace and asked the applicant to provide larger or additional plants before the next meeting.
Mary Pinto of 3 Oaks Environmental described conditions on the site and said plantings are taking hold: “The plants are growing really well.” She said much of the wetland work must be done by hand because of soft, rocky soils and that planted shrubs and wetland plugs are establishing.
Several commissioners said the stock installed looked smaller than expected for a violation repair and asked the applicant to research larger trees or to increase the number of plantings. One commissioner cautioned that this is a repair for a violation and said, “This is a violation... and so we're not gonna sugarcoat a violation,” urging a stronger restoration response. The commission discussed deer browsing and planting survival; the applicant said extra spare plants were available to replace losses.
The commission asked the applicant to provide updated photographs and any alternate planting options in advance of the July 14 meeting. The matter was continued to that date for follow‑up documentation and potential adjustment of the planting plan.
