The Salina Public Schools Board of Education approved a consent agenda that included multiple vendor contracts and encumbrances for the 2025‑26 school year at its June 10 meeting.
The consent agenda matters because it formalizes large, recurring contracts and purchases that affect classroom technology, instructional materials, meal programs and facilities upgrades across the district.
Items listed in the packet included a Chromebook parts purchase from Dell for $53,838.40, license renewals for Frontline Technology ($148,109.83), Curriculum Associates ($205,111 for i‑Ready), Imagine Learning ($49,150), Character Strong ($61,180.80), and web IEP software from the Kansas Educational Technology Consortium ($25,330.87). The district approved purchases for classroom materials and textbooks including Walker Bookstore ($24,309.99), Savvas ($31,784.40), Scholastic Education ($74,982.12) and Lakeshore ($27,759.78) for preschool furniture and materials.
Food services and related annual projections were also approved: an agreement with F and A Food Sales Inc. for projected food and non‑food supplies totaling $2,015,000 for the 2025‑26 school year; Highland Dairy Foods projected milk expenses of $342,000; and Swanson Meat Processing for ground beef at $62,000. The board approved an annual insurance renewal of $1,395,133 and a contract with ROI Energy for LED lighting purchases and installation at South High and South Middle for $424,138.
The board approved the consent agenda as a block by voice vote; the motion carried 6‑0. During the consent discussion a board member asked about unpaid meal charges referenced in the agenda; staff said charges totaling just over $95,000 were recently forwarded to collections.
District staff noted various vendor contracts are multi‑year or annual projections and that several items support upcoming program operations, classroom needs and facility improvements.
