County finance staff says 2024 end‑of‑year position is under budget; reimbursement timing noted

Amber, a county finance staff member, presented the summary and cautioned that year‑end closing work is still underway. “Overall, like, looking overall at the county, we are under budget, which is great,” Amber said. She explained a negative number shown in a levy line on the internal system resulted from prior‑year revenue being recognized in 2023 and 2024 and therefore looks “funky,” but is not a current shortfall.
Amber said the county historically budgets conservatively on a reimbursed program that is supposed to be 100% paid by an external payer; in recent years the county received about 97 percent reimbursement. “So that's great. For budget purposes, I'm still probably gonna budget at 97, just because that's me, and I like to play it safe,” she said, while noting county staff expect an error found during the claims review process may restore full 100 percent reimbursement for 2024.
Board members asked when 2025 figures would be available; Amber said the next meeting in June will include reports through April and provide a clearer picture. No formal action or vote was recorded on the report; it was an informational presentation.
