Oak Creek police request $15,590 to expand locker cubicles in garage

Oak Creek — Oak Creek Police Chief David Stecker asked the Board of Public Works and Capital Assets on June 10 to authorize $15,590 to replace and expand officer-duty bag cubicles in the department garage.
Chief David Stecker told the board the department has 51 patrol officers and currently 51 cubicles; the proposed Bradford Systems installation would provide 84 total cubicles and 81 usable spots. “What we have in front of you is the request to purchase this, which will give us 84 total cubicles, 81 are usable for our staff,” Stecker said, adding the department expects the configuration to accommodate growth for at least 25 years. He said the purchase would be paid from the police department’s current budget and would not require capital-improvement-program funds.
Stecker said the department researched vendors and visited neighboring departments’ installations before choosing Bradford Systems for perceived quality and durability. Board members did not ask follow-up questions; a motion to authorize the purchase was made and seconded and the item moved forward on a roll call vote.
No amendments or conditions were attached to the authorization at the meeting. The board did not request a detailed procurement report, and staff said the expense would be absorbed in the department’s operational budget for the year.
