The single bid was presented to the committee and staff recommended acceptance contingent upon receipt of required documentation such as insurance certificates and contractor licensure.
Commissioners discussed whether the purchasing committee or county attorney would verify the paperwork; staff said the staff attorney and the county attorney would review the documentation. The committee approved a motion to accept the bid contingent on satisfactory review of required documents. Roll call recorded all members voting in favor of the contingent acceptance.
Committee members said the initial cancellation followed a determination that the earlier bids exceeded the county—s budget and that the county would either seek a less elaborate design or postpone the project. Staff said a future rebid or redesign could deliver a smaller or less elaborate option that fits budget constraints.
