The Blue Valley Board of Education voted June 9 to name the shared soccer field at the Bridal stadium the “Rick Pribble Field,” honoring a longtime coach and English teacher who led programs at Blue Valley North and Blue Valley Northwest.
Deputy Superintendent Kyle Hayden described the naming request, which originated from alumni who played for the coach, and said a naming committee followed board policy in convening principals, parents and athletics staff to evaluate the request. Hayden said committee members were familiar with Pribble’s coaching record, including multiple state championships and national recognitions, and recommended the field naming to align with prior board decisions to name fields and courts for former coaches.
Hayden said the natural ceremony date aligns with the early-season Blue Valley North vs. Blue Valley Northwest match, when alumni and a large crowd are expected; staff noted that Pribble coached both boys and girls teams during his career.
A motion to approve the naming passed unanimously, 7–0.
The board followed its naming policy in convening building principals and parents who were already involved in student activities to serve on the review committee. Staff said they will plan a dedication during the early-season rivalry match and will notify appropriate stakeholders.
