ASHLAND COUNTY, Wis. — The Ashland County Highway Committee voted June 9 to continue a local pilot program tied to LRAP project selection and authorized the highway commissioner to sign the agreement renewing county participation.
Commissioner Matt Hinkle summarized outreach to towns: seven of 13 town representatives who attended a recent meeting preferred continuing the pilot program because the LRAP selection committee includes many town representatives and committee composition could affect discretionary and supplemental funding awarded to towns.
Hinkle said he initially favored reclaiming the pilot but deferred after town association feedback, noting other counties in the region had already signed the agreement. A motion by Tom Reimer, seconded by Martin Dietzak, instructed the county to continue with the pilot and allow the county representative to sign the contract. Committee members voted in favor and the motion carried.
What happens next
Hinkle will sign the agreement and continue county participation in the LRAP pilot program. The committee did not send this item to the full county board.
