DVR reports local staff losses after statewide DSHS reductions; transition coordinator resigns

David Hankinson of DVR told the Clallam County DDAC that statewide DSHS staffing reductions led to cuts across the department and that DVR lost positions as part of that process. He said one local business specialist position (serving Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties) was eliminated, effective June 30.

Hankinson also said the county’s DVR transition coordinator, Tracy House, resigned to move to Michigan; her departure was effective in the days before the meeting. He said it was unclear at that time whether the position would be refilled given the agency’s budgetary constraints and layoffs. Local staff said they would seek clarification from regional leadership and update the committee when more information is available.
What’s next: County and DVR staff said they will monitor workforce impacts and report back to the DDAC when staffing and replacement decisions are confirmed.
