Clallam County adds resolution opposing new offshore oil and gas leasing to consent agenda

Clallam County commissioners included a resolution on the consent agenda June 10 opposing the inclusion of new offshore oil and gas leasing off the Washington coast in the 2024–2029 national Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas leasing program. The consent agenda passed without separate roll call.
At the meeting a commissioner said the resolution was crafted in response to a public input opportunity that occurs roughly every five years and that the board provided input at the prior cycle as well. The item was brought forward to allow the county to participate in the federal public comment period.
The consent agenda also included a call for a June 24 hearing on an agreement with the Clallam Economic Development Council regarding an Opportunity Fund program to support a Clallam Forest Products Industry Cluster Innovation Program. Both items were approved as part of the consent agenda.
