Clallam County approves Strait of Juan de Fuca topo-bathymetric LiDAR agreement with state partners

Clallam County commissioners unanimously approved an agreement on June 3 to participate in a topo-bathymetric LiDAR project covering the Strait of Juan de Fuca coastline.
County staff explained the project — funded through a partnership among Clallam County, the Puget Sound-related consortium (described in the meeting), Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife and Washington Sea Grant — will obtain combined topographic and bathymetric LiDAR data from the upper extent of tidal influence to mean low water along the coastline from Cape Flattery to Admiralty Inlet. Staff said that high-resolution nearshore elevation data are not currently available for large stretches of the county shoreline and that the new dataset will provide inputs needed for planning.
A motion to approve the agreement with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife was moved and seconded and passed unanimously. Staff did not provide a contracting dollar amount in the motion summary presented at the meeting.
