Ocala — The Marion County School Board on June 10 approved a $1,000,000 increase to an existing contract for Type IIB panelized modular buildings to support portable classroom needs across the district.
Ms. Usher, representing technical services, explained the original contract ceiling was $3,300,000 and the requested increase brings the total contract ceiling to $4,300,000. She said the district has already spent about $2.2 million against the contract and that the additional $1,000,000 would leave roughly $1,600,000 available for remaining portable units and accessories.
Board members expressed the shared hope that the district would eventually not need portables, and the motion to increase the expenditure ceiling passed unanimously by the three members present.
