Ms. Gilman, a county staff member presenting the item, told the board that “the budget for fiscal year 2026 is $3,325,599” and that, because of increased property values, “the levy will increase by $38,631.” The board voted 3-0 to adopt the tentative budget and later voted 3-0 to schedule the Truth in Taxation hearing pursuant to ARS 48-254.
The Truth in Taxation process notifies taxpayers and provides a public hearing before a taxing entity increases its levy; Ms. Gilman said the district is holding its tax rate flat but must conduct the hearing because the levy amount would rise as property values increased. The board took no further debate and made the two motions in rapid succession. Supervisor Gomez moved to adopt the tentative budget; the motion passed unanimously by the three supervisors present. Gomez also moved to set the Truth in Taxation hearing for July 8, 2025.
The meeting record shows District 1 Supervisor Crosby, District 2 (identified in the transcript as "Call missus"), and District 3 Supervisor Antonory were present and voted in favor.
