Board reviews new district goals and Key Performance Indicators to anchor ‘Cardinals Journey’ strategic plan

Superintendent Dana Menogue presented an updated Vision for Teaching and Learning and the district’s proposed key performance indicators for 2025–26, saying the materials reflect board feedback from a May learning session and will be submitted for approval in two weeks.

Menogue said the district moved to a single mission statement focused on students — “we know our students' stories and build upon their strengths to inspire them locally so they are prepared globally” — and aligned KPIs to three strategic rubrics. The packet shows current performance levels beside each KPI so the board and public can track movement over time.

Board members responded positively to the continuous‑improvement framing. Bartlett Durant said he preferred the new approach over earlier numeric targets, which could feel punitive, and asked for clarity on committee alignment with the strategy map. Catherine Kells asked whether a simpler public presentation would be available; Menogue said the team would produce website drop‑downs, infographics and an August family publication with a QR link to the full KPI set.

Board members requested a glossary of acronyms and suggested the administration identify a short list of high-priority KPIs to communicate publicly. Menogue said principals and school improvement teams will use the KPIs in local planning and that the full governance team would later assess whether the district is moving left–to–right on the rubrics.
