Supporters said the project is time‑sensitive because they want lights installed this year to support the high‑school girls’ team; a council member said she hoped the village could adopt emergency legislation if the grant opportunity requires quick action. No grant award was announced; the resolution authorizes only the submission of an application and does not commit village funds beyond administrative work to apply.
If the village receives a grant offer, council indicated it will evaluate any required match, budgeting and installation logistics through normal budgetary and procurement processes. The council vote to authorize the application passed unanimously.
