District leaders summarized results from three engagement surveys — students, families and staff — and described how the data will be used in school improvement planning.
Tony Duga, Director of Student, Family and Staff Engagement, and Jan Shenoweth, Director of Secondary Curriculum, outlined that surveys run on a four‑point Likert scale (with one earlier year on five points). The elementary survey showed student–teacher relationships remain the district’s strongest area and peer‑to‑peer measures improved; academic interest and participation rose after prior declines. Middle and high school results were broadly stable with smaller dips that administrators said were not statistically significant.
On family engagement, the district reported its highest four‑year results for items such as families feeling supported, welcomed and informed; however overall family response counts fell and administrators flagged “survey fatigue” as a likely factor. Tony Duga said the district will continue multi‑channel outreach, expand multilingual materials and lean on principals to raise participation.
For staff, the 2024–25 response totaled 361 participants (32.8% overall participation: 19.9% non‑certified, 41.3% certified). The district reported improvement across Deloitte‑aligned engagement pillars: keeping students at the center (3.42), professional growth (3.25), collective efficacy (3.10), culture of belonging (3.25) and meaningful work (3.22). Leaders said professional growth and coaching/feedback remain priority areas for development.
Board members asked for additional disaggregation and distribution detail; Bartlett Durant asked for counts by response category and demographic breakdowns. Administrators said the Qualtrics platform allows disaggregation and that they can provide those views to the board and to school improvement teams. Principals will analyze local responses and use findings for advisory, Responsive Classroom work and school improvement plans.
Ending: The district plans more targeted outreach to increase response rates and will incorporate the survey KPIs into next year’s school improvement and Cardinals Journey planning.
