Staff discussed specific capacity concerns, saying the district anticipates a grade with 138 students "that is not ideal," and noted the following year's cohort at about 120 students, which provides some leeway for incoming transfers. On pre‑K, the staff said the district has 62 half‑day pre‑K spots and already has more transfer requests than available spaces.
The motion to approve capacities was made and passed by roll call. The board did not attach immediate staffing changes to the vote but said staff and the superintendent are monitoring enrollment and funding with district finance leadership to align staffing levels with enrollment and funding constraints.
Board members were asked to review the capacity document and monitor transfer lists; staff said the district had accommodated families who were on waiting lists when early openings occurred.
