Scott Wagner, managing partner and investor in the Old Florida RV Park, told the Hendry County commission Tuesday he has contracted to add a 1950s-style diner on an outparcel at the park and is researching hotel and housing opportunities on adjacent property.
Wagner said the park has experienced operational problems this year, including food service failures, and described the diner plan as part of a turnaround he expects to complete by December. He also said his team is exploring a potential Hilton-brand hotel on a front outparcel, and is studying whether 29–44 acres behind the site could be developed as housing rather than additional RV pads. Wagner suggested a modest water park as a community amenity rather than a large amusement complex.
Wagner asked county staff to study permanent access from Townsend Road and to consider roadway connections that would improve access to Wheeler Estates. Commissioners expressed interest and asked county engineers to meet with Wagner to study potential access and road improvements. County staff said they will set up a meeting including the county engineer to discuss access and infrastructure needs.
Wagner’s remarks were introductory; no county approvals or incentives were requested or granted at the meeting. Commissioners thanked Wagner for the presentation and invited further project details and follow-up conversations with county staff.
