Village officials reported the Building Department was active in May, issuing permits, rental registrations and notices of violation, and trustees authorized an extension of an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Brookhaven for consolidated assessment services.
The Building Department report to trustees said May activity included 9 building permits, 5 plumbing permits, 12 building and housing summonses issued, 24 rental permits and 16 notices of violation; the report listed one overcrowded property under investigation at 12 Mulford Street.
Separately, the board heard a request to authorize the mayor to execute an extension of the intermunicipal agreement (IMA) with the Town of Brookhaven for a functional consolidation of assessment services (MCEP project 4). Officials framed the IMA as an example of shared services intended to reduce duplication and save money. The board recorded the motion and proceeded.
The board also received personnel and hiring approvals across sanitation, highway and parks divisions (motions to hire or promote seasonal and temporary staff were presented and recorded). Trustees approved those personnel items during the meeting.
No fines or code changes were announced at the June 9 meeting; the department said a year-end financial report for May would be presented at a later meeting.
