Hardin County allocates $458,055 from Road & Bridge fund and approves multiple equipment purchases

Hardin County Commissioners Court on June 10 approved transfers totaling $458,055 from the Road & Bridge fund balance to precinct budgets and authorized multiple equipment purchases and budget amendments for maintenance and operations.
The measures are intended to retire equipment notes, acquire new vehicles and machinery and supply materials needed by the county's Road & Bridge departments.
County Judge McDaniel said the court would transfer up to $600,000 overall but, for the current action, approved $458,055 moved from the Road & Bridge fund balance into precinct budgets. The court recorded allocations as: $150,000 to R&B 1 for equipment purchase; $8,055 to R&B 2 for equipment purchase; $150,000 to R&B 3 for materials and supplies; $42,000 to R&B 4 for equipment purchase; and $108,000 to R&B 4 for equipment notes. McDaniel moved approval; Commissioner Young seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.
Several specific equipment purchases were approved under separate agenda items. The court authorized Commissioner Cooper's request to purchase a Kubota M5111 HDC 12 tractor and a Terrain King boom mower from Beaumont Tractor Co. Inc. in the amount of $153,500 using the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program, to be paid from line item 017621570 (equipment purchase). The court also approved an amendment to a previously approved truck purchase: instead of a 2024 Ford F-350 from Silsbee Ford, the county will purchase a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 from Lake Country Chevrolet at the "same total purchase price of $66,008.00," the court record states.
Commissioner Perkendahl presented an amended purchase for a mini excavator (trade-in of a 2007 Caterpillar 304C CR), citing an initial quoted pricing error; the corrected purchase price, less trade-in, was listed as $66,019.25 with additional funds of $8,054.50 to come from line item 017622570 (equipment purchase). Commissioner Cook requested purchase of a Mustang Cat 40-inch mulcher (model HM208) for $4,003.74, which the agenda notes includes $88.98 for installation; the court approved removing the serial number placeholder until the unit is produced.
All motions related to transfers and purchases passed by voice vote. Several participants clarified that some award paperwork and serial numbers were not finalized and would be completed after purchase.
Court members recorded no formal dissents during these approvals.
