The Rock Island City Council on June 9 approved a series of ordinances on a range of administrative and regulatory items.
Among the measures adopted were: a partial street vacation of Twentieth Avenue east of 406th Street; amendments to the city street-fee ordinance; amendments to Article 18 regarding sale and possession of tobacco products; changes to rental-property registration and management requirements; and the creation of a chapter regulating public rights of way. Council considered each ordinance by motion and adopted them by roll call votes, generally with unanimous affirmative votes and limited discussion recorded in the transcript.
Other routine actions the council approved included payment authorizations for public-works claims, consent-agenda items, and a water-tower lease amendment permitting AT&T to upgrade cellular equipment at a First Avenue water tower. A professional services agreement for the Port District Master Plan and other consent items were approved separately on the agenda.
The transcript records the motions and roll-call approvals but does not record extended debate on most of these ordinances; where discussion occurred it was brief and procedural.
