Tommy Farrell, presenting the requests, said the budget line for these community support grants currently has about $22,330 remaining after recent authorizations. He told commissioners Mariposa received $800 from the county last year and has been funded for other events this year at about $1,000; Mariposa requested $2,500 for the tribute sponsorship. Farrell said PDI asked for $1,500 this year for its largest fundraiser; last year the county authorized $1,000.
Commissioners discussed possible sponsor levels and whether to split the difference for some requests. One commissioner said they were comfortable with a middle level for Mariposa and asked staff to follow up with the organization to confirm the appropriate sponsorship tier and ticket arrangements. On PDI’s request, commissioners indicated support for the $1,500 level: a board member summarized the discussion by asking, “So $1,500, I'm hearing?” and received confirmation from staff.
Farrell said he would follow up with Mariposa Center for Safety to confirm the sponsorship level and whether the county would purchase a table for PDI; staff will return any further details to the board before formalizing payments.
