PUEBLO, Colo. ' The Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners on June 5 approved a professional-services commissioning agreement with Iconergy for the new Pueblo County detention center.
Staff described Iconergy as a professional building-commissioning firm and said selection followed a competitive request for proposals. Project staff said Iconergy submitted a competitive price and that other proposals were significantly higher. The presenter said Iconergy's principal has engaged the county proactively and performed initial site work prior to formal contract approval.
A commissioning agent verifies that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, smoke-control and other systems are installed and operate together as intended; staff explained that commissioning includes on-site testing during installation and final testing before the owner accepts the facility. "A commissioning agent is hired to basically come in as a party for the owner, Pueblo County, to look at all the the HVAC systems, all the electrical systems, all the plumbing systems, all the security systems, the smoke control. See how everything integrates together and it make sure it works properly," staff said.
Commissioners approved the Iconergy agreement by voice vote. Staff said commissioning work is incorporated into the overall project budget and will inform the warranty period and punch-list work after JE Dunn completes the construction phase.
