PUEBLO, Colo. ' The Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners on June 5 approved an electrical installation agreement with Black Hills Colorado to supply utility service to 33830 Meadow of Honor Boulevard, the location serving the new county jail.
Dave Zupan and public-works staff said the work to extend electrical service was budgeted but materials and services have become more expensive. Zupan told commissioners the value in the agreement shown at the meeting was roughly $564,000 and that approximately $400,000 had been set aside initially for utility issues on the jail side. He said the cost will be shared between the Meadow of Honor Boulevard project and the jail project and that the county remains on budget: "We're not spending as much as our utility line showed in our original calculations, by about 50,000... This isn't a request for additional funds... We're still on budget with this."
Commissioners approved the installation agreement by voice vote. Staff said the action authorizes beginning construction of the electrical grid to the jail site so other work can proceed.
No detailed utility easement or final payment schedule was read into the record at the meeting; staff said they will administer the agreement under the previously adopted project budgets.
