Staff said the office is in the preparation phase for the September election, confirming nearly all poll workers and maintaining a wait list to cover any late openings. "At this time, we do have, almost all of our poll workers have been confirmed. We do have a wait list at this time," an elections staff member said during the meeting.
Staff described the typical ballot‑mailing process: applications are kitted and ballots are sent in waves as the vendor delivers materials. Voters may request a mail ballot via the state website, the city's website (which links to the state application), or by submitting a paper application available at the elections office. The staff member provided the application deadline as Monday, Aug. 25.
Commissioners discussed poll‑worker recruitment and a recent outreach alert that led to multiple applications; staff said they received several applications following that notice. The board discussed scheduling and other logistics for the Sept. 2 preliminary and moved on to agenda items on early tabulation and security at polling places.
No changes to application methods or deadlines were proposed at the meeting; staff instructed that interested residents may continue to apply and will be placed on the wait list if all current slots are filled.
