The Worcester Board of Election Commissioners conducted a public ballot-order drawing June 10 in the Levi Lincoln Chamber to set the order of names that will appear on the Sept. 2 municipal preliminary ballot for city council at-large and School Committee District E.
The drawing determines the sequence vendors will print on ballots. Staff read candidate names aloud while the chair drew labels and placed them on the board before announcing the final order.
For city council at-large the board announced this ballot order: Oworokwaku Sarkodia; Gemma Kamara; Donna Calorio; Gary Rosen; Kate Toomey; Kaden Davis; Satya Mitra; Bernard Ion Doley; Joseph Petty; Christian King; Charles Luster; Jessica Pepple; Edson Montero; Morris Bergman. "The drawing will be for city council at large and the will be for school committee district E," an elections staff member said during the process.
For School Committee District E the board announced the ballot order as Kathleen Roy, then Noelia Shafoya, and Neli Medina.
Commissioners and staff described the procedure before and during the drawing: staff read the labels and the chair pulled the names to place them in order on the board. The announced order will be used by the vendor as ballots are prepared and printed ahead of the preliminary.
The commissioners completed the drawing on the record and moved on to other agenda items related to September election preparations.
