Villa Diamante resident contests hedge‑height code violation near Old Jupiter Beach Road

Barbara (Barb) Talty, a resident of 208 Diamante Way in the Villa Diamante planned unit development, addressed the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 10 to contest a town code‑violation notice that she said incorrectly identified her property as fronting Old Jupiter Beach Road.
“I received a code violation notice, last week regarding our height of our hedges stating that we were fronting Old Jupiter Beach Road,” Talty told the commission. She said her property fronts Diamante Way and that hedges along her front facing Diamante Way are 4 feet tall. Talty said the hedges along a side entrance that abuts her backyard and pool area are about 6½ feet tall and provide privacy; she said the side yard is not a front setback and that she and her husband submitted photographs and documentation for both 111 Diamante Way and 208 Diamante Way to the town’s code enforcement file and to planning staff.
Talty asked the commission to review the submitted materials and to “rule in our favor” so the taller hedges that protect privacy in the backyard could remain. She added she did not believe the hedges obstruct line of sight for police or emergency vehicles.
Town staff acknowledged the comment and told Talty staff would follow up with her to review the submitted materials and the code‑enforcement determination. No action was taken by the commission; the matter was presented during the public‑comment portion of the meeting for staff follow‑up.
