Franklin SSD approves continuation budget, backs resolution to streamline federal project allocations

The Franklin SSD Board of Education on Monday approved a continuation budget to keep district operations running until the new fiscal year budget is adopted and passed a resolution to use the fiscal year 2026 federal projects budget as the governing schedule for federal allocations.
Administration presented the continuation budget noting the current fiscal year ends June 30, 2025; the continuation budget maintains current budgeted amounts and does not permit new expenditures that would apply to the next fiscal year.
The board approved the continuation budget by roll call; the transcript records affirmative votes from Miss Barker, Miss Newman, Mister Blair, Miss Bell, Mister Stillings and Mister Townsville. Administration recommended approval.
Board members then approved a resolution to permit the fiscal year 2026 budget for the school federal projects fund to serve as the budget authority for future allocations made by the Tennessee Department of Education. The resolution is intended to eliminate the need to process individual budget amendments each time allocations are made within the federal projects fund.
That resolution was also approved by roll call with the same affirmative votes recorded. No amendments or dissent were recorded during the motions; the board did not change the substance of either proposal at the meeting.
