The presenter said rezoning had proceeded smoothly overall and that the changes were intended to relieve crowding in certain schools, particularly in the White House cluster and at Crestview Elementary.
The presenter noted that kindergarten numbers are projections and that attrition, transfers and final registration will affect final counts. He said rezoning helped avoid involuntary transfers and that staffing attrition rather than forced moves had been the primary balancing mechanism.
Board members asked for time to review particular school impacts and for follow-up contact with families affected by zone changes. The presenter said the graphic enrollment charts in the packet make it possible to compare school sizes and that staff will continue to monitor enrollment and report back as necessary.
