The North Canton City Council on June 9 adopted an ordinance finalizing annexation of a single parcel owned by the city, located at Whipple Avenue Northwest and Wise Avenue Northwest. The ordinance rezones the parcel to General Business B and places it in City Council Ward 1.
Why it matters: The annexation and rezoning clarify the parcel’s municipal status and voting ward assignment and enable city administration and planning staff to proceed with land use and development processes under the General Business B zoning designation.
Liam (staff) read the ordinance title for the record. Council then moved to adopt the reading and approved the ordinance that will establish the parcel’s zoning and ward assignment. There was minimal public comment in favor during the hearing; one resident, Martin Farrison of 858 Valley Drive Northwest, said he “didn't see any problem with that.”
Formal action: Ordinance adopting the annexation and rezoning was adopted at the June 9 meeting.
What’s next: With the annexation and rezoning finalized, administrative and planning staff may proceed under the city’s zoning code for General Business B parcels and follow standard permitting and development review processes.
