County staff said the item is the first step in a two‑step process: advertise an ordinance that would establish a public advisory committee to provide recommendations on matters affecting the Clam Bay estuary system. Several Pelican Bay residents submitted a letter asking that the matter be continued into the fall so homeowners can participate.
Commissioners agreed to continue the item to July 8 to allow additional participation; staff noted earlier budget materials show a $178,000 project line for NERPA activity and that dredging work has been funded by tourism‑tax (bed tax) dollars. The board directed staff to advertise the continuation and to incorporate edits to the proposed ordinance before that date.
The motion to continue passed unanimously.
