A community naming committee convened in April and narrowed more than 60 name submissions to three finalists: Central Creek Middle School, Bluff Creek Middle School and Buckland Middle School. The committee included 19 volunteers — six students, six patrons and seven staff members — and, after a second round of voting at the committee’s request, registered a 10–9 preference for Central Creek over Bluff Creek.
The board motion to approve Central Creek Middle School carried on a 4–0 vote. Board members thanked the committee and community participants for their time and participation in the selection process.
The decision follows the district’s process of soliciting community input and vetting names through the committee; the board’s vote finalizes the school name. The district did not announce a timeline for signage or formal naming events in the meeting.
