MidAmerican Energy presented a $2,500 check to the Pottawattamie County Trails Association during the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors meeting on June 11.
The contribution came from MidAmerican’s CARES Foundation grant program, a company representative said. Pete Ryerson of MidAmerican Energy introduced Dave Finch from the MidAmerican engineering group and noted the project was brought forward by Supervisor Bell and his team.
Lynn Leader of Pottawattamie County Trails thanked the company and Scott (a local volunteer who applied for the grant) for their work securing the funding. The funds will be used to enhance parking at the Smith Nature Reserve trailhead, which the trails association has adopted as part of the county trail network.
The presentation was brief and followed by routine business on the board’s agenda. No formal board action was required for the donation.
